Overview
Also known as contiguous bored piles or secant walls, 'Touch Piling' involves drilling a sequence of closely spaced piles so their edges literally touch or overlap. This forms a continuous structural concrete wall underground, effectively holding back earth pressure and groundwater during deep foundation excavations.
Process Explanation
A rigid guide wall is typically built along the perimeter first to ensure absolute precision, as any deviation renders the wall non-continuous.
Piles are drilled in an alternating sequence. "Female" or primary piles without steel are poured first. Then "Male" secondary piles (with steel reinforcement) are cut directly into the primary piles to interlock seamlessly.
Once the continuous wall cures, bulk earth excavation begins safely on the inner side, forming a stable walled basement pit.
