Overview
After concrete is poured into a pile shaft, the uppermost part contains contaminated soil, laitance, and poorer quality concrete. "Pile Chipping" or "Pile Breaking" rigorously strips away this top layer down to the designated cut-off level, exposing clean and sound concrete and intact reinforcement rebars without causing micro-cracks below the cut line.
Process Explanation
The exact cut-off level is precisely surveyed and marked. A shallow saw cut is sometimes made around the perimeter to prevent fracturing below the line.
Using pneumatic or electric jackhammers, along with specialized hydraulic modular pile breakers, our workers carefully chip away the weak concrete chunk by chunk.
The exposed vertical steel rebars are cleaned and bent perfectly into shape, allowing straight integration into the subsequent concrete pile cap pour.
